Statistics show that 125,000 Americans die each year because they fail to take their medications as prescribed. 76 billion dollars are spent each year in physician recalls, emergency room visits and hospitalization as a result of medications taken improperly. At Finney's our goal is to find better ways to serve our customers and bring them the best health possible. That's why we utilize the Doc-U-Dose system. A program designed to increase medication compliance and to take the burden out of taking daily medications. Doc-U-Dose contains a four-week supply of maintenance medications. Each day's prescriptions are packaged into four color-coded, easy-to-open envelopes that coincide with a breakfast, lunch, supper, and bedtime dosage schedule. Individuals are enrolled in the Doc-U-Dose program following a referral made by a physician, visiting nurse, social worker, PASSPORT case manager, hospital staff member, client or family member. Our registered nurse or one of our pharmacists will demonstrate Doc-U-Dose at the client's residence. They will explain how the system works and will answer any medication questions. The client will also have an opportunity to open the Doc-U-Dose envelopes, ensuring Finney's that the client is able to use the program. Once the client decides to use the Doc-U-Dose System, a Finney's pharmacist will contact the physician to acquire all medical records. All necessary prescriptions will be filled and delivered them directly to the client's home. If at any time, the medication schedule changes, Finney's will go back to the client's residence and will adjust the Doc-U-Dose envelopes to meet the changes. The following information is needed by Finney's at the time of the referral:
